Film Recommendation: Marie Antoinette

If you are looking for an intensely plot-driven, twisting and turning race of a film-then this isn't it. However if you are looking to indulge yourself in a feast for the eyes, then get your tea-set and macaroons. As this will certainly appeal to those fond of decadence. It stars the wonderful Kirsten Dunst and is directed by Sofia Coppola, who also directed Dunst in The Virgin Suicides.

Pastels, pastries and pugs-perfect.

Music Monday

One question I always somewhat dread is, "so, what music are you in to?". I cannot really say in any succint way because it really is a mish mash of everything. Therefore I tend to say what band/singer I'm currently enjoying.

I absolutely love this song by Emile Sande.
She has such an amazing talent, this is one of those songs that soars into my soul.

This next song by Beth Rowley is just dreamy. I first heard it on the soundtrack for 'An Education'.
There is also an equally gorgeous version of this song by the late, great Etta James.

This is the latest offering from The Maccabees.
I had almost forgotten about this band until I heard this on Radio 1. I was lucky enough to see them in (eek, time flies) 2007 at the Oxford Zodiac and they were wonderful live.

What songs are you currently loving? I'm always up for discovering music, whether it's new or old.

Interior Fun

I'm planning an upcoming post about my room at home. In the past months I've thought more and more about interior design, although I have always had an on-going interest (especially with my dolls house!). Here are some fun ideas that are taken from this amazing tumblr.

This bed reminds me of the biscuits I blogged about in my previous post! I could imagine curling up in here with a book. Very Disney.

This powder-blue shelf would look so adorable in a nursery...or my room.
I'm all about the sofa in this, with its nifty little side tables built in!
This stool reminds me of Beauty and the Beast (fairytales on the brain)
This dressing table assortment is incredible.
"oh yes, this is just my bathroom dressing table"
Wonderful collection
A scalloped kitchen extractor!
Jar lights

Now, I occasionally cross the boundaries of 'taste', however...

This takes the biscuit.

Food Glorious Food

Many people live by the mantra of eat to live, not live to eat. Unfortunately I am not one of those (slimmer) souls as I find food just too exciting. I really would like to experiment more with baking, but will have to wait till I move back home as I haven't got many utensils, and my money is spent on books! One of the wonderful benefits of new site Pinterest is that you can find great ideas for presentation and creativity when it comes to food-especially the sweet kind. Here are some examples:

How adorable are the little clams? The Rose Cake would be my dream wedding cake as well. As you can probably see, my eyes are definitely drawn to the girliest of cakes!

I'd love to hear about your favourite bakes, whether you make them or simply devour them.

Film Recommendation: An Affair To Remember

It is funny that this film from 1957 forms so much of a base for the romantic comedies of today. However the absence of sex, swearing and Kate Hudson makes way for a sizzling romance with a tragic twist. Besides this, it looks beautiful. Here are some screen shots:
I would love to hear about any of your favourite films from yesteryear!
